How we approach mirrors
Bathroom mirrors
Bathrooms are hard on mirrors — the black creeping edge you see on old bathroom mirrors is the silver backing being attacked by moisture. We use backing suited to wet areas and seal the edges, and we set the mirror off the wall where ventilation is poor so moisture is not trapped behind it.
Wardrobe and robe doors
Mirror in a wardrobe door has to be safety-backed, because a door mirror is the one most likely to be hit. Backed mirror holds together if broken rather than dropping shards. We can re-mirror existing robe door frames, which is far cheaper than replacing the doors.
Full-wall and gym mirrors
Home gyms and dance spaces need large panels, safety backing and proper mechanical support — adhesive alone is not adequate at that size. We plan the panel layout so joins fall where they are least visible and the reflection stays true across the wall.
Edgework
A polished edge is clean and modern and suits frameless installations. A bevel adds a traditional detail and catches light at the perimeter. A ground edge is the economical option where the edge will be hidden by a frame or a cabinet. The right choice depends on whether the edge will be seen.
Tinted and antique mirror
Grey and bronze tinted mirror reduces the glare of a large silver panel and reads as a considered design decision rather than a functional mirror. Antique and aged finishes suit feature walls, bar backs and splashback positions where a plain mirror would be too stark.
Fixed to last
Standard construction adhesives attack mirror backing and cause staining and eventual failure. We use mirror-safe adhesive, and on anything large or heavy we add mechanical fixings — clips, a channel or a subframe — so the mirror is not relying on glue alone.
