Glazier Northern Melbourne

Preston is Californian bungalows and post-war brick veneer with a very high renovation rate, plus a long retail strip along High Street and Gilbert Road. The housing brings a mix of original timber sash re-glazing and large made-to-measure panels in rear extensions; the retail strip brings shopfront work. A lot of Preston jobs are installations into new openings rather than replacements, which means templating rather than measuring an existing pane.

Campbellfield is predominantly industrial and commercial with a modest residential pocket, and the glazing work follows: factory and warehouse windows, office partitions, and shopfront glass, most of it urgent when it breaks because the premises cannot be left open. Board-up first, then a permanent replacement in the correct grade of safety glass once the pane is fabricated.

Whittlesea is a rural township on the far northern edge of Melbourne — older weatherboard and brick homes, farm buildings and sheds, and a great deal of non-standard joinery. Like the farmland east of Pakenham, nothing out here comes in a stock size, so glass is cut to the opening. It is the furthest point we travel to, so these jobs are planned, measured properly on the first visit and completed in one return.

Montmorency is 1960s and 70s housing on steep, heavily treed blocks running down toward the Plenty River. Split-level homes are common and so is high-level glazing that is difficult to reach, along with decks and balconies where the original balustrade is being replaced with glass. The tree cover means branch damage to glass is a genuine seasonal pattern rather than an occasional accident.

Templestowe is large homes on large blocks, much of it 1970s and 80s and a great deal of it renovated or rebuilt since. Installation work is common here rather than straight replacement — new frameless showers, glass balustrades to internal stairs, splashbacks and large fixed panels going into openings that did not previously hold glass. That is templating work, and the measurements have to be taken off the finished opening rather than the plan.
