Compliance built in from the set-out
The common failure points at inspection are predictable — a gate that does not self-latch from every position, a gap under the panel that has opened up as ground settles, a climbable object inside the non-climbable zone. We set out with all of it accounted for rather than fixing it after an inspector has failed the barrier.
Gates and latching hardware
The gate is where most pool barriers fail. It must swing outward away from the pool, self-close from any open position, and self-latch without assistance, with the release at the required height. We use quality self-closing hinges and magnetic latches, because cheap gate hardware fails within a season or two and takes the compliance with it.
Frameless versus semi-frameless
Frameless uses individual spigots and gives an almost invisible barrier — the best result around a feature pool. Semi-frameless uses slim posts and costs meaningfully less while keeping most of the transparency. Around the larger blocks in Officer, Beaconsfield and Clyde North where the run is long, the cost difference across the whole perimeter is significant.
Ground movement and reactive soils
Much of the Cardinia and Casey corridor sits on reactive clay that moves seasonally. That movement is what opens up the base gap on a fence that passed inspection two years ago. We set spigots into properly sized footings rather than the minimum, because the cheapest footing is the one that gets re-done.
Fixing an existing fence that has failed
If your barrier has failed a council inspection, we can assess it against the actual non-compliance items and quote the rectification. It is often far less than a full replacement — commonly a gate hardware change, a base gap correction, or removing a climbable item from the zone.
Registration and certification
Victorian pool and spa owners must register the barrier with council and lodge a certificate of barrier compliance, with re-inspection every four years. We build to the standard and can point you to what your council requires, though the certificate itself must come from a registered inspector.
