Glass Replacement
Glass replacement is the core of what we do, and it covers far more than windows. Cracked door panels, failed double-glazed units that have fogged internally, chipped table tops, cabinet and display glass, shed and garage windows, glass in gates and fences — if it is glass and it sits in a frame or a fitting, we can measure it, cut it and put a new one in. Every replacement is matched on thickness, type and grade to the position it sits in, which matters more than most people expect: getting it wrong is not just a compliance issue, it is the difference between a pane that cracks under thermal stress in the first hot week and one that lasts twenty years.

How we approach glass replacement
Every glass type used in Australian homes
Clear float for standard windows, toughened where impact safety is required, laminated for security and acoustic performance, obscure and patterned for bathrooms and privacy, tinted and low-E for heat control. We will explain the trade-off in plain terms rather than pushing the most expensive option by default.
Fogged double-glazed units
When a double-glazed unit fogs internally, the perimeter seal has failed and moisture is inside the cavity. It cannot be cleaned and it will not clear. The fix is a new sealed unit into the existing frame — considerably cheaper than a whole new window, and something a lot of homeowners are never told is possible.
Cracked glass is not a wait-and-see job
A crack in an annealed pane will run. Heat, a slammed door or a cold night is usually enough to take a stable-looking crack across the whole sheet, and once it does you have a safety problem instead of a cosmetic one. Cracked glass is cheaper and safer to replace before it lets go.
Thermal stress cracks in the newer estates
We see a specific pattern in the newer Pakenham, Officer and Clyde North estates — clean, curving cracks starting at the edge of the pane with no impact point. That is thermal stress, usually where dark furnishings or an internal blind trap heat against the glass. Toughened replacement glass resolves it where re-cracking is likely.
Non-standard sizes are normal
Older homes across Beaconsfield, Emerald and Cockatoo rarely have standard openings, and heritage-era timber sashes almost never do. Everything we install is cut to the actual measured opening, so a non-standard size does not turn into a special-order delay.
Frames checked, not ignored
New glass in a rotted timber sash or a distorted aluminium frame will fail again. We check the frame, beads and glazing rubbers as part of the job and tell you honestly if the frame needs attention before it is worth putting new glass in.

Frames are only worth replacing when they are structurally failed — badly rotted timber, corroded or bent aluminium, or a sash that no longer squares up. Replacing glass alone is dramatically cheaper, and we will tell you plainly which situation you are in.
